How I Shop for My Boys

When I had my first son, I remember how difficult it was to find boy clothes in our area. I had to resort to online shopping. Along with learning how quickly babies grow, I learned a lot before baby boy #2. Now, I LOVE shopping for my boys. Maybe a tad too much…

One thing about having boys, is the opportunity to make them match so easy. Luke can pass down his good clothes and shoes to his little brother! I didn’t keep many baby clothes because I knew it wouldn’t keep me from buying new for Levi. Levi is also a summer baby, whereas Luke was born in the fall. I just don’t think it would have mattered if I had kept much. I do however wish I had kept all of his shoes. I kept the good ones that I couldn’t let go of, but not all. His feet grew so fast that he went through lots of shoes, so it was hard to keep up.

My favorite places to shop for baby and toddler clothes are:

  • Carters - I always check their clearance and doorbusters. I’ve already been able to buy some matching shirts for the boys because they had them available in baby sizes and toddler/kid sizes. I like their boys shoes when they are on sale. Their jeans are great too!

  • Kohls - they carry so many brands. Also, I’ve been buying Luke’s shoes from there. Sneakers and dress shoes.

  • Old Navy - I don’t buy much unless I catch things on sale, but I love their pajamas for 12+ months. I have caught some good dress shirts marked down on occasion.

  • Walmart - I like to get play clothes here because they are cheap and perfect for a boy that plays hard and gets dirty when outside. Their hoodie & jogger sets are great for playing outside when it gets cold.

  • JCPenney - Their prices are great, and their end of season sales are a great time to shop! I’ve bought pants, shirts, dress clothes, and casual clothes. Always look for clearance stickers. They are not always on a clearance rack. I recently went in and found both boys items for anywhere from $1 to $5 each.

  • Target - I LOVE the Cat and Jack brand that Target sells. It’s affordable, well made, and Luke has always loved how comfortable their stuff is. It’s where I have found the best dress pants for him. They also have toddlers dressy sport coats on occasion.

I do find some random brands at Marshalls or TJ Maxx at times, but it’s not the place I go when looking for things. I just like to check out their clothes when I’m in the store.

Favorite Brands:

The Modern Moments by Gerber are SO soft and affordable. They also wash SO well!

Purely Soft by Carters is soft and can be washed over and over again and never lose its quality. I have bought every print they offer for boys since Levi is a summer baby.

Milk Berry is a good one I find at Marshalls most of the time. It’s thin and soft but it does run smaller than some brands, so I have to consider that when buying.
