Homeschool - Year One
Having kids comes with making big decisions. One of those decisions is their education. It’s a prayerful decision. We knew homeschool was the plan for us, we just had no idea the time would come so quickly. Our oldest is beginning preschool this year! After speaking with friends that have experience with different curriculum and doing our research, we are happy to have settled on The Good and The Beautiful for this year. Their preschool curriculum has 120 lessons of learning letters, sounds, blending, math concepts, and beginning handwriting. The course book outlines everything you need for each lesson. Each lesson is interactive and includes access to learning songs and videos! I love that it makes my part in teaching him so easy to do. They have other resources like writing practice books and science lessons for young kids. We got everything we need for the year and it was very affordable!

I love seeing all the homeschool spaces people share. Some have a dedicated space for it, and some use the kitchen table. We will be using the kitchen table. As the boys get older and get into more work, they will get a desk in their rooms but for now, we will be using our dining room. You can check out all the supplies we use under the links page! There won’t be posters like in a classroom, but I have created an interactive presentation that will be up on my computer each morning. We made a big deal about starting preschool and let him pick out new school supplies. He got to pick a pencil box, pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, markers, colored pencils, folder, and a first day of school shirt. These are some of the items we got for the first day!
I wanted a visual space so he would be excited to homeschool since we will be doing the work at the dining room table. I had the perfect shelf and space for it in our mudroom. It’s accessible so each morning he can get his pencil box or grab an activity off the shelf.
Here is a look of the presentation that will be up each morning! It does contain a slide showing our schedule for the morning.
