In My Boy Mom Era

Little boys will push your buttons, wear you out, and make you question your sanity some days. But then they’ll flash that sweet smile or give you a look that melts your heart, and you’ll wonder how you ever lived a life without them.

When I dreamed of having kids, I had no idea God would give me boys. After my first boy, I knew if God only gave us boys, I would be grateful and have no regrets! Fast forward to today, and we have a red headed boy and a black-haired boy. One to look and act like his daddy and one to look - and hopefully act - like his momma!

Once I heard the words “it’s a boy,” I knew right then he would complete our family. I didn’t have to decide whether I wanted to try once more for a girl, my heart was perfectly content with another boy to raise. I’m outnumbered, but I love it! Luke has been a momma’s boy since day one, and Levi seems to be right on track to be one too! I am soaking it all up!

It’s a big job, but I am eternally grateful God trusted me with these two boys to raise. It’s not quiet, clean, or calm. However, I am learning to embrace the mess and appreciate the noise!

One thing I love about my oldest is that he can be rough and have a smart mouth, but he has the sweetest spirit and cares about people and things so well!

I thought I would feel like I was missing out by not having a girl because it meant giving up all the girlie things, but that hasn’t been the case at all. I’ve come to love all the boy things. I’ve built many towers, raced many cars, played catch many times, and fought bad guys as a superhero.

We read lots of books and tell lots of stories. I love watching Luke’s imagination run wild. He builds houses for his characters, pretends to fix things around the house with his tools, loves to play in the rain, finds just about anything in the clouds, and thinks he’s as fast as Sonic! He’s the best big brother to Levi, and I can’t wait to watch them grow and learn together. It’s true what they say, “the days are long, but the years are short.”
